Cross-country skiin tracks
There are 50 kilometres of ski trails at Koli. From the Kopravaara Future Freetime Centre there is a lighted 22-kilometre trail to Loma-Koli. And shorter trails almost without number. Within the National Park the 3- and 7-km loop trails traverse the hills. The 3-km trail is fairly easy, but the 7-km is more demanding. Later in the winter season the alternatives increase as new trails are opened in preparation for the two major mass ski events of the year, Maisemahiihto and Ahmanhiihto..
Snow-mobile routes
Koli and North Karelia provide perfect conditions for snow-mobilers: hilly country, lots of snow, and good food. Koli is linked to the regional snow-mobile network, with 1800 kms of trails available. So if you’re fit enough and have the time you could spend a whole week on the trails. Or alternatively just a couple of hours, with or without a guide.
Snow-shoeing
At Koli you’ll find snow-shoeing at its best! Using snowshoes you can walk even in deep snow, and see winter nature from a totally new viewpoint. Either individually or in a guided group, you can follow the marked snowshoe trails or the routes of the summer hiking trails. There are two short popular snow-shoeing tracks: a 3 km track from Koli Village to Ukko-Koli, and a 1,5 km track up onto Ukko-Koli.
Hiking and Biking
Koli is renowned for its national landscape and the National Park. The Park’s hill scenery, lakes, rare geological formations and swidden culture attract 100 000 visitors annually. In summer hiking trails, in winter ski and snow shoeing trails invite you to experience the reality of the Park. Tourism is carefully combined with the Park’s role in protecting this unique environment.
Skating
You’ll find ice for skating close to Koli School (Aapiskukontie 11) in Koli Village
