The landscape of snow-covered trees that opens from the top of the highest peak in Southern Finland is nearly as frequently photographed as the greenness of summer and autumn colours.
Hills that rise directly from the shores of Lake Pielinen create perfect weather conditions for the development of crown snow, i.e. heavy and massive snow loads on trees. Koli hills are among the southernmost places in Finland where this happens every year.
High slopes are popular with both downhill and cross-country skiers. The slopes of Ukko-Koli are best for speed skiing. The steep slopes of Ukko-Koli ensure that even the most hard-headed thrill-seekers will enjoy the experience.
This website presents the various winter activities in Koli and the surrounding areas.
