Snowshoeing excursion to Ukko-Koli, Monday to Friday at 11 am, to the enchanting wintry forest of the Koli national landscape and the oldest rock in Europe. On this excursion the guide will introduce the hikers to the technique of snowshoeing and tell stories about Koli on the way. The terrain on the fells is variable, but we will go slow, admiring the views. We meet at the Nature Centre Ukko.

Dogsledge rides on Wednesdays from 11 am to 1 pm, non-stop at Merilänranta, Loma-Koli. The trail is about 1 kilometre long. Between 17th Feb and 10th March, Koli Safari House is open every day from 10 am to 7 pm. The Safari House serves as an outdoor centre for the whole family in Loma-Koli. There are sledging slopes of four different lengths, including North Karelia’s longest sledging slope, a whopping 610 metres long. There are snowmobiles for rent for both adults and children. At the equipment rental you’ll also find cross-country skis, snowshoes, sledges, and Wuuuf soft gliders. There is also a snowshoeing park nearby, with marked trails. At the Koli Nature Centre Ukko you can easily spend several hours taking in the various exhibitions and perhaps enjoying the offerings of the Café Vakka. The revised standing exhibition “Katse kansallismaisemaan” (‘A look at the National Landscape’) showcases the geology, nature, and history of the region. Through the visual presentations of the exhibition you can make an experiential and safe acquaintance with burn-clearing, the large carnivores, and natural phenomena characteristic of the Koli area.
