Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Call of the Sliding-step Snowshoes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 3 pm
Get acquainted with the ultimate vehicle, a fantastic way to move about in wintry nature. This sport combines the best features of snowshoes and traditional forest skis. The traction wings on the ski bottoms provide traction when you are going uphill and the shortness of the skis makes it easier to control your slide down. We first practice the downhill slide on a gentle open slope to get a feeling for the functioning of sliding snowshoes. After the initial practice session we head for the woods to test the techniques we have just learnt. Come along, acquaint yourself with this exhilarating winter sport and be charmed! Duration 1.5 hours. Departure: Koli Safari House, Häkinniementie 14. Price: 35 € per person.

Koli-jewellery

The quartzite of Koli. The forested hills of Koli formed about 2300 million years ago, when sand from the ancient ocean became stuck between the tectonic plates, and a mountain range, almost as high as the Himalayas, formed in the area. As time went by, several  ice ages, along with weathering, left behind only the hardest stone of all – the white quartzite stone of Koli. This very stone has been cut into the KOLI-jewellery.  www.kolikorut.fi.
