Scenic trails

In a popular vote, Koli was elected the national hiking area of the year 2013. The Koli National Park boasts about 80 kilometres of marked trails, making it a splendid destination for one day or several days of hiking, and you can do it summer and winter.
The Circuit of the Tops is a trail of about 1.4 kilometres that takes you round Koli’s best-known scenic points. The trail starts on the upper courtyard of the Visitor Centre Ukko at the foot of the stairs leading towards the top of Ukko-Koli, from where the journey goes on to Paha-Koli and Akka-Koli. The trail includes several flights of stairs and rather demanding climbs on bare cliffs.
An easier route to the Ukko-Koli viewing platform. You can make it to the Ukko-Koli viewing platform, quite near the top, even with a pram. The easier route starts right beside the radio tower on the upper courtyard of the Visitor Centre Ukko. Follow the route straight on for 275 metres, then turn left towards Ukko-Koli (the second junction of the route). Then walk straight about 30 metres. You will find the viewing platform on your right-hand side just before the stairs leading to the top of Ukko-Koli.
In winter you can do these routes with snowshoes, skis, or snowmobiles (snowmobiling, though, is allowed outside the park only).
