Accommodation, Huskies & Authentic Experiences

Eräkeskus is located in Nurmijärvi, surrounded by the forests and lakes of North Karelia, Finland. Our sled dogs are at the heart of Eräkeskus. They are part of our everyday lives, our work, and many of the experiences we share with our guests.

During a Kennel Visit, guests can meet our dogs and learn more about their daily lives, care, and training. Our Husky Hikes offer the opportunity to explore the surrounding nature together with our dogs.

Eräkeskus is a place to visit throughout the year. In summer and autumn, we offer guided hikes, canoeing and kayaking trips, giving our guests the opportunity to explore North Karelia’s forests, lakes and peaceful surroundings away from the crowds.

In autumn and winter, our sled dogs take centre stage. During autumn, guests can experience our dogs in training and join us for multi-day programmes and autumn holiday packages. Once winter arrives and the trails are covered in snow, we offer a range of husky sledding tours, multi-day programmes and week-long winter holidays. Guests can also enjoy snowshoeing, ice fishing and other winter activities.

We keep our groups small and focus on personal experiences. This allows us to take time for our guests, enjoy the nature around us and give our dogs the individual attention they deserve.

Accommodation

Guests who would like to stay with us can enjoy a comfortable stay right here at Eräkeskus.

Our guesthouse offers cosy rooms with private bathrooms and toilets. We also welcome guests travelling with campervans or tents.

Meals are served in our lodge, where guests can come together and enjoy relaxed evenings. Sauna facilities are also available.

Whether you come to meet our huskies, explore the forests on foot, discover the lakes by canoe or kayak, or experience dog sledding in winter, Eräkeskus offers a welcoming place to experience North Karelia in every season.
